By the sounds of it he would be eligible of FSW1, which can take 9-12 months as a 'fast track', but of course it will still depend on whether he has enough points to apply in the first place and whether his NOC code is still on the list of 38 high demand occupations at the time of his application. A standard application can take 4-5 years.

Check out the 'Who can apply' section on here, and do the eligibility survey to help you understand their requirements.

Hope this helps.

Dear Lady Locket
Thanks for the help and response.

We already checked on the CIC site, and he can score 67 points easily, just wanted to make sure if his application falls under FSW!! can you check the NOC code 2171 and tell if it comes under 38 Occupation list!
many thanks

cheers

1. The standard application no longer exists all applications are "fast track" after Feb/08
2. NOC 2171 is NOT eligible for FSW1. He would have to either worked/studied in Canada or has an AEO.

Noc Code 2171 is in itself not eligible for FSW1, no. But it is a sub category number of NOC code 0213 which is eligible for FSW1. As long as your brothers duties are listed under this section, it doesn't matter what his official job title is. They are looking for the particular skills. Use code 0213 for FSW1, as long as you can back it up with a description of duties that match the descriptions they give you on this page:

Here is the link:-

You will find 2171 listed as a note at the bottom of this page.

Please read the ministerial instructions. NOC 2171 is not eligible, He has to apply under 0213 and he has to performed a majority of the major descriptions. Basically he must have a managerial function.
