If she does the IEC, yes, and if she finds a job straight away (it may take her a while), but then you do need proof of the job, ideally at least one payslip so it wouldn't be immediate. If she does the intra-company transfer TWP then you would be work authorised upon arrival so that would be a better option if she's eligible and the company want her to transfer.

No problem. She'd also only get a year on the IEC, whereas it's usually 3 years for an intra-company transfer TWP. So another reason to do the transfer if she can.

Good luck.

Thank you. Yeah intra-company transfer is definitely a better option.
On intra-company transfer is she getting an open work permit for 3 years? Or work permit just for this employer job for 3 years?

Sorry new questions come to mind

It's not an open work permit, it's tied to the employer.

Sorry one any more question. If I'm eligible to get a work permit, which means that my wife has a job, and we/I fit all their criteria, can there be a situation that they will not grant me the work permit? I dunno because the person that grants it has a bad day, or because they don't like my surname or something etc? I know it sounds stupid but just want to be sure that 99,99% I will get it not that for some reason we will be in a situation where I can't work.

They can't refuse your application because they're having a bad day. They can refuse it if you don't have the requisite paperwork, don't meet the criteria, have a criminal record, etc. So as long as you are eligible and have plenty of proof of that, you should be fine.

Hi christmasoompa

I was trying to find it somewhere but couldn't. Do you know what is the time of processing of intra-company transfer? Once the company will apply for the work permit, how long do we need to wait to get the decision?

The same as any other work permit. Or just apply at POE as above.

HTH.

so if the company will apply for my wife's work permit to transfer her, we will need to wait up to 168 days? I dunno if we would be able to do it then on POE.

No, you're misunderstanding. You either apply for the work permit before you go OR at the POE, not both.

I think now I get it. We are based in London so the processing time is 9 weeks as it will be processed not in Canada but in London.

Yes, 9 weeks if you decide to apply before you go.
