Default Can a vistor own a business in Canada?

Hi, I wish someone can give me accurate answer for this. My wife and I are going to run a home based online store. She is waiting for her in-land sponsorship and currently holding visitor visa, and I am a permanent resident. Can she be one of the owners when registering a business? Is owning a business considered as working in Canada? She will be one of the business account holders as well. Thank you!

I asked that same question and was told no.

I don't know if it is different if she is a partner with you already a PR.

Couldn't you set it up in your name and make her a partner later?

Visitor (or even foreigner abroad) can own as many businesses in Canada as s/he wants. But such person cannot work in his/her business without proper work permit, even if it is a home based, online business.

Hi Mr. Miller, if it is a home based business, will they suspect that she is actually working?
