Hi: I'm the U.S. Resident and have filed for Canadian residency as an Independent
immigrant six months ago.

Can I enter Canada as a tourist and take classes?

If not, how long does it take to obtain a Student visa?

Any help in this matter will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Jolanta

The only classes you are eligible to attend with a visitor visa would be short
term language courses. You would otherwise require a student authorization to
attend schooling in Canada the duration of the application process is
approximately 6 weeks by mail, or (as a citizen or PR of the USA) can be done in
person at the port of entry.
