Default Can I go over before activating my PR?

Hi all, I'm after a bit of info & hope that someone will know the answer.

Finally, we've just received our PR visa forms etc & have until next March to activate them.

I'd like to go over in October - December to try & secure a job & buy a house before my wife & son then come over.

Is this possible? Am I able to come over & stay for a few months without activating my PR visa? Can I activate the PR visa without wife/son?

To do this would I need to able for a separate visa?

Any help that you can provide me would be greatly appreciated.

Regards

Calum

In fact you could land in October and then be in position to find and take a job, locate housing etc. Your family could then follow and land so long as they do it before the expiry of the PR visas (March '09).

Thanks Jim, much appreciated.

Glad to find that I was overcomplicating things.
