Smile CAN & ENG Living in UK move to CAN

Hi there, I have a unique question and I hope somebody can help explain things to me..as I get lost reading all about immigrations

First of all I am Canadian, my wife, English born and raised. At the moment we are living in the UK and want to leave and move to Canada. I havn't been here long enough but we're practicly married here...which means we will be very soon.

We want to move to Canada and we want to be able to avoid the lengthy time period (up to 2 years) where my partner cannot work. Is there any way around that since we will be already married? And ideas feel more than welcome, we would greatly appreciate it!

Thanks in advance

1. Once you are married or living common/law (1 year) as a Canadian you can submit a sponsorship and application while living abroad to Mississauga and the application would be processed in London.
2. 80% of spousal applications in London are processed in 9 months + 45 days at Mississauga.
3. You should start by getting the required information for the application before the marriage, and have the medical done before the marriage as well, but not too soon, as it is valid for a year. If your spouse has lived in a number of countries since turning 18, the Police certificates will take the time to gather.
4. All the information and forms are here: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/informa...cations/fc.asp

Hi,
My situation was very similar to yours, as I have Canadian citizenship and lived in UK with my English wife and kids. I sponsored her and I believe it took about 6 months (back in 2002). You can sponsor her when living in Canada I believe but she'd not be able to work.

So I agree with the earlier advice - get your application in as soon as you can. You'll be glad you did!

Warmly,

Frank

Yep, not unique in the slightest. Get married and apply ASAP (apply earlier if you qualify for common-law).

So what you're saying is start the immigration/sponsorship while we are still both here in the UK? Can that be done? This way it's quicker like you said 6 months back when you did yours.

Yes it can be done in the UK. In fact there was a time when it had to be that way.

Good luck.
