Default Can Anaesthetic Operating Department Practitioners work in Canada?

Hi, My name is Jake.

I am a Anaesthetic Operating Department Practitioner who is looking to work in Canada for a year, maybe more. I have some questions that hopefully I can find answers for here.

Does Canada have ODP's in their healthcare system? If so what role do they have I? I have heard that the role is called a anaesthetic technician but I have also heard that ODP's can't work in Canada. I have relatives who live in Canada that maybe able to help with putting me up until I am able to find my own place.

Any help would be great

Until I get more information, any of the three. Keeping my options open for the time being as I am doing research. This seemed to be one of the best ways to do it. I would love to work in either of the three but, like i said I need to find out more before I make a final decision.

Anesthesia technologist is the correct term for Canada (NOC 3214).

Each Province will likely have specific requirements for working in this profession.

You can see which are regulated etc here:

If you look at each Province/City in the link below, click on Education and training and it will give you contact details on how to register, if necessary.

Explore Careers - Outlook Report - Job Bank

How are you planning on working in Canada for a year, an IEC working holiday? It's unlikely anyone will be willing to apply for an LMIA if they know your intention is to only stay for 12 months.
