Default Calgary transit violation

Hello,

Last year on holiday I got a ticket on the C-train. I accidentally went one stop past the city centre free fare zone, and got a ticket for $250 (gulp!) which I paid immediately.

As this was a summary offence I'm sure I'm fine to enter Canada, but do I need to declare it on any forms?

Also, I think you're allowed to enter Canada so long as you only have one summary offence? As it was a municipal offence (ticket from a peace officer, paid in alberta court) does this count as one of those two?

Thanks for input!

No its not a Federal law so won't affect admissibility.

Thank you so much for prompt and reassuring reply, FL! (after long time reading, the answer I was hoping for, from the person I was hoping for)

Wouldn't it come under this?

Does mistakenly staying one extra stop indicate false pretences or fraud?

I wouldn't think so myself.

Wouldn't a transit ticket be a provincial violation like a speeding ticket?

Looking at a law site for BC, it appears it is, and no criminal record appears, although it may appear in in a CPIC search, but then again a lot of things appear in that search which are also not criminal in nature and result in no criminal record.

He was given a ticket by a municipal law enforcement agency as opposed to being charged or ticketed under the Criminal Code of Canada. Most tickets of this nature usually fall under Provincial legislation as opposed to Federal legislation.

Thanks for the confirmation FL. He mentioned attending court in Alberta, which is why I thought it may have come under the Criminal Laws.

Depends who runs that particular transit system - it could be provincial or it could be municipal.
