Default CAIPS File Question

Hi Everybody:

Since the e-client status cannot retrieve my file and also since there is no call
center available, would be of any help to get the CAIPS file to have an idea about
the status of the application ?

I understand that it is a quite cryptic; but assuming that it can be interpreted,
will it provide me with a general idea as to when the file would be assessed ?

And how long does it take to the CAIPS file ?

Comments/suggestions from the experts would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks a lot.

Dwight

Hi

It takes about 3-4 weeks to obatin a copy of your CAIPS notes and the file does
contain codes that could require interpretation. However if you want to just know
when your file will be assessed, also know as the "Bring Forward Date", its very
clearly mentioned in the notes.

Thanks

Hi Everybody:

Does getting a CAIPS note negatively impact the processing time of the application ?
I am asking the above as I have read here in the forum that inquiring about the
status of the application from the RPC does slow down the process.

Would be grateful if the experts could provide some advice/suggestions.

Thanks.

Dwight

There would be no delay to the file, as CAIPS notes are computer generated and CIC
headquarters would retrieve the notes from the system. There would be a delay if the
request is for all information on the file (physical) as the information has to be
copied from the file and then reviewed by an officer and exemptions requested if
necessary and then it is reviewed by HQ prior to being released.
