Default buying a used car

Hello. This isn't exactly a question about importing into Canada, but
rather province to province. I'm thinking of buying a used mid '80's
car in one province, and importing it into Ontario. Id like to know if
there are any rules or regulations regarding this. Assuming the car is
legal to drive in the province its being sold in, can I drive it in
Ontario? Would it have to go through any kind of testing, apart from
the 'drive clean' emissions test?

Thanks

Information on how to do this appears to be available on the
Ontario Ministry of Transportation (MTO) web site, at:

http://www.mto.gov.on.ca/english/faq/index.html#used4

Go down to the section starting with "For a used vehicle/trailer
previously registered in another jurisdiction".

Coming from outside the province, you will have to go through an
inspection process - at your expense and will be required to meet provincial
safety regulations. Visit the Ontario government web site for more details.

Hope that helps.
