Or may be I'm too optimistic to hear from anybody. I guess those who got their requests already are less likely to spend their time on this forum.. cause now there is lots of other exciting things to take care off....

I am not sure how valid/true this is, but when I went to Buffalo for
my PR visa stamping I met another applicant from Buffalo who had
applied in early 2002.
He had used an immigration lawyer (don't know which one) so he wasn't
sure exactly when his application was lodged, but he was certain it
was around March 2002 or thereabouts.
He got his approval in late June this year.

What was even more surprising was that he was a Pakistani national
working in the US on a work permit (H-1B1 visa).
Usually, just the background/security checks take about a year !

I guess some people are just lucky !!

Best wishes

But it's so hard to believe in because Buffalo just recently finished only the INITIAL assessment for March 2002 applicants. Experts how true can this be, any ideas?
Or I guess the luckier you are the quicker is the process regardless of when submitted the application.

I posted my timeline last week, in case you didn't see...

My timeline so far:
-------------------
Category : independent immigrant

embassy : Buffalo

applied : January 31st, 2002

AOR : May 10, 2002

Interview waiver: Apr 4, 2003 (I didn't receive it until July 23rd!,
so I was afraid that my process will be prolonged by these 4 months)

Medicals : Nov 14th, 2002 (I did them for my visitor status in Canada,
I was afraid that I had to do another one. I guess I will have to land
before Nov 14 - not a problem.)

Police certificates (both sent before consulate requested):
FBI - Oct 16, 2002
RCMP - June 18, 2003

Passport request: Sept 15, 2003
Passport sent: Sept 16, 2003 (buffalo received sept 17)
and now waiting to get it back.
Nationality : Ukrainian

BTW, (for e-client fans) [it] changed to "decision made" on sept 18 (i
don't know why i was checking it , just got into habit I guess.)

Hi Roxolona, Congratulations! You will get your passport back very
soon.

I got my passport stamped and received it back yesterday. It took
only one day for them. Mailing the passports back and forth took two
weeks because I am in the Left Coast. I sent the passport on 9/15.
They received it on 9/22 and stamped on 9/23. I got it back yesterday
(9/29). I am planning to land next week at a border crossing in BC.
Roxolona, where are you landing, AB or BC? Do you know if the border
postings are open on Saturday?

My timeline is simialr to Roxolana's:

Applied Feb 2002
AOR and File # May 2002
Assessment April 2003
Medicals and other info: April-May, 2003
Pasport Request: September first week
Stamped: Late September
Planning to Land next week (October 1st week)

Right now dealing with some issues for permanently importing a US made
car that was temporarily imported. Looks like I may have to spend
$1000 to $2000 but better than taking the car back to US and trying to
sell it there.

Good luck to everyone.

Hi, Congratulations to you also!
As a matter of fact, I just received my passport back also .
I sent on 9/16, they received 9/17, stamped 9/24 and 9/30 received by
me.

I live in Edmonton, so I will be go to the Alberta/Montana border. As
far as I know there are at least 2 ports of entry in AB that are open
on weekends, so in BC there should be for sure as more people cross
there I would think. On the Alberta gov travel site, I found the phone
numbers for each port of entry in AB.

So, good luck to you. I might go "landing" tomorrow, or wait for
somebody to go with me on the weekend.

Hi Roxolana and Tiger,

Congratulations to you both.

I just want to find out how you guys sent your passport since you both reside in Canada. Did you guys use an Express mail, courier or regular (registered) mail? If Courier or Express mail, which of the service companies (Fedex, UPS or Canadapost) did you use and how was the passport returned by Buffalo?.

Thanks in anticipation for your reply.

Hi samoji,
I sent mine by Purolator, they guarantee next day delivery, price is
like FedEx.
Expresspost (by Canadapost) would work too, but i had problems with
them twice! where they "lost" track of my letter once it entered US.
Buffalo returned my passport by regular mail (mailed 25th received
30th.)

I sent it by Canada Post Express which takes five business days from
the West Coast to Buffalo. Buffalo returned it by US Post which took
four business days on the way back.

Hi Roxolana.

How did your landing go? Did they ask for any specific documents,
photos, etc.?
How did you handle customs for your car and other belongings? Did you
declare and itemize all items including jewellery, etc.? I am
planning to land in a few days, and I would appreciate any tips.

Thanks.

Ok, since this topic shifted a little since I initially posted my question - I want to try this again.

Anybody who applied after DEC 31, 2001 at BUFFALO and got their PASSPORT REQUESTS please share your timeline.

I know there is a lot more of you out there than just a couple.

Thanks,
Diego
