Default Birth Certificates

Hi guys,

I seem to remember my brother-in-law saying that he needed a full version of his birth certificate for his application but have not seen any info anywhere on the cic site or on here (may have missed it - if it has been mentioned before i apologise). I do have the short version of my birth cert but will that be enough?

Thanks in anticipation.

I sent off the kids full birth certificates as they had all the complete info on them i.e. date of birth. I don't have a birth certificate so CHC didn't get one from me. I would say send the full ones as the shortened ones are almost useless.

Regards,
H

Well for various reasons I won't go into I only have a short birth certificate, and that seemed to do.

They may have been asked for the full form if they were trying for 5 points in adaptability for a relative in Canada. In that case you need the full form for the parents names.

Which sucks for those people for whom full birth certificates were never lodged. However given the common reason for non-existence of full birth certificates I doubt that the above reason would be an issue.

Hi Vega

I think we paid about £10-£15 for full copies of our birth certificates, I don't know if the short ones are acceptable but we were keen to be as detailed/official/complete with the documentation as possible so as to avoid any potential issues/delays etc

I remember them asking for long form birth certificates somewhere in the application paperwork; I had short form and had to get a long form one for that reason.

Honestly we did the whole thing with Ben's short version birth certificate. NI short birth certs are really....short !! Name DOB Country of birth thats it.
I use it as proof that Ben was invented in some twisted Lab somewhere rather than actually "born" per se.
