Default Bill C-24

I need some clarification with this Bill.

The new physical presence to maintain PR status is 4 out of 6 years or 4 out of 6 years to be able to apply for citizenship?

Is this bill now in effect?

And does it have any effect on current citizenship applications?

I am only waiting on my Swearing in Ceremony.

I still have valid PR status under the 2 out of every 5 years.

thanks!

It won't affect you. You are under the old rules.

Phew

I feel like there will be some people really affected by it. I understand what they are trying to do but I don't think this is the best way to do it.

Generally when they do new bills like this, they'll say "the rule will come into effect for applications received on or after 1 January 2015" (or whatever date). If your application went in BEFORE that date (as in, received by CIC on or before 31 December 2014) then you are processed under the old rules. If CIC receives it on or after 1 January 2015 then you are processed under the new rules.

Careful now SchnookoLoly, in a few weeks you'll start getting posts along the lines of 'I heard from someone that the rules are going into effect on 1 January 2015'... all traceable to the example in your post
