Default A Big Mistake I Did

Hello

I would greatly appreciate your help and opinions in my case.
I applied for skilled independent almost four year ago, and everything went ok (file no, new forms/ielts) until few months ago when I did a big mistake and engaged a a lawyer to represent me.
Actually I was deceived by his promises like speeding up the process, and getting my status within weeks. You know after you have been waiting endlessly you easily believe anything from supposedly professional person. Since then, nine months passed and nothing they can do. Therefore I decided to cancel their service, and tried to tell them so, but they said it's not possible for so and so...(fake exceuses). They want to get the rest of their very expensive charges for nothing. I ended their service by writing directly to CHC and informing them to send any correspondence to my address.

Now is this ok? Can this put me in questioning situation by CIC?
Should the termination of representation be done through the representative by itself? The problem they want to keep the contract so when the visa comes, I have to pay for nothing.

I need to know how this can affect my case?

Thanks for all your valuable help.

I am not in position to give any sort of professional/legal advise, but would like to share an observation I made at the Berlin embassy. A guy in front of me informed the embassy representative that he no longer wishes to communicate through a lawyer by scribbling up and submitting a written notification. From what I could understand the embassy staff had immedeately changed his contact details to his private address. Though of course it could have been just a one-off case.

U can terminate at any moment the services of ur lawer for any reason and can correspond to CIC in future by ur self or thru another lawer with whom u r satisfied. it is ur right to do so. all u need a letter to the concerned CIC visa post with the cancellation request of ur current lawer and ur new contact details. but be sure that CIC gets ur letter. so better to use Courier srevices and check e client status latter on.

And remember that, if you signed a contract with the lawyer, and I assume you would have done, you'll amost certainly owe them money. But if you can prove that they misled you, perhaps there will be an escape. I hesitate to say it, under the circumstances, but I think you will need legal advice...!
