Really NEED Help .. Please ??
Hello,
I am in Canada on a visitor visa, which is due to expire on the 28th Dec. I am awaiting a work permit from London, but to date have not heard anything except for a request for more paperwork. Having decided just the other week to extend my stay, and have just received the Official Fee Reciept Form. I have put away $1000 for a flight back as well as receiving full support from my new employer, including that of her standing as guarantor until I hear one way or the other. After reading the guidelines however I now percieve I have a problem: I am out of the recommennded timescale to apply to change my conditions of stay, which, as I understand it, if approval is rejected, as I understand it could jeopardise my future visits to or stay in Canada. Alternatively, I could leave the country before the 28th at the Buffalo border and by re-entering have a further 6 month visitor visa. My dillemma is, which would be the best way to approach this problem. Should I apply to change the conditions of my stay and take the risk of being rejected or should I just leave the country, stay overnight in Buffallo and re-enter Canada before my visa expires? In addition, if I did cross the borrder, will I be let back in again as well as getting a further 6 months visitor visa, or is that a misjudgement on my part? I would appreciate help and advice quickly, so I can act quickly to extend my stay, one way or the other. I truly hope someonce could give me some good advice on what is the best way forward? Wiz |
Re: Which is best way to extend stay in circumstances?
Hi:
Apply for your visitor visa extension. If your application is refused it will not jeopardize your application for the work permit, nor any other future applications. But, if you stay in Canada without status, you may jeopardize future temporary visas, such as your work permit. Generally, if you are granted a visitor visa extension, you will allowed to stay in Canada for an additional six months as a visitor. Re: Which is best way to extend stay in circumstances?
Hi - Wonder if you know whether the immigration officers at the airport will grant a temp visa for more than 6 months.
We would like to stay in Canada for 12 months? |
Re: Which is best way to extend stay in circumstances?
Hi,
I know for a fact that they won't. If you want a longer term in Canada, you need to apply for a 12 month visa before you come here, ohterwise the officials at the airport have authority to grant you up to 6 months only. Hence my question...... Wiz Originally posted by gsmith1610 Hi - Wonder if you know whether the immigration officers at the airport will grant a temp visa for more than 6 months.
