Question Banking Loan Is A Problem?

Hello everybody! This is my 1st Thread in this forum, i'm from Brasil and my immigration process is running by Québec - Argentine's Officer.
I got a question and i really hope someone can help me...
Well, in 1996 i got a loan from a Federal Brasilian Bank and i was not abble to pay.
Is it a problem to my immigration process? Should i try to pay the bank before applying for PR?

Thanks,

Pedro

Pedro,

the best decision would be to begin making payments on the loan and then submit your application for PR. Remember that a visa officer is allowed to use substitute evaluation if he/she feels that the candidate would not be successful for any reason (even if he/she has enough points). I'm not sure how Sao Paulo conducts its background checks- i.e. do they access a credit report- but it wouldn't hurt to begin repayment of your loan.

But past threads have stated that even a bankruptcy won't typically hurt an application for immigration...

Regards,

Jerry

Thanks for your help Jerry...
So, it means that bankruptcy is not a kind of inadmissibility problem right?

Merci encore,
Pedro.

P.S.: I got a big friend that lives in Chicago. He works at Boeing...

No offence meant, it's just British sense of humour I guess. Whenever I (or anyone else from the UK) goes away you're 95% guarenteed that when you tell someone you're from the UK (Bristol in my case), they usually say "Oh is that near London, I know someone from London, Paul errr someone, you might know him"! The usual response is "Has he got thick glasses and a ginger beard?" to which they look at you slightly confused.
Good luck with your application
