Default Background check

Hello all,

My wife sent her passport along with the police clearance certificate to the
embassy in June 2003 - on request from them.

I called my M.P. to see if they could find out the status - and I was told
that everything was ok and that the background check was being done.

Is there a background check even on spouse immigration??? And any ideas how
long it takes?

Thanks

Ashok

Yes, all applicants are subject to background, security and medical checks,
no exceptions for sponsored spouses. B/S check may take anywhere from few
months to well over a year depending from applicant's nationality and
countries of residence.

How long would a Japanese national background check normally take?

Thanks

Andrew --

Quick question: for a spousal case (like this one) shouldn't it take
less time than say a skilled worker case because the spouse's
educational and employment history need not be verified.
It should save a few months vis-a-vis a skilled worker case.

Thanks.

Security check has nothing to do with verification of education/experience
credentials. There is absolutely no difference between security check for
Skilled Worker or sponsored spouse.
