Question From bachelor's degree to language courses?

Hi,

I have just applied for PR from Canada (AB); however my temporary status expires on Feb 28, 2010, and I would really want to stay in Canada while I am waiting for a decision. Would it be possible to obtain a study permit for French courses in Quebec after I have graduated from a Canadian university, which is a higher level studying than language courses.

I understand that I cannot obtain a visitor permit if I do not have a good reason for that. Obtaining a TWP is also not an option considering my occupation (1231 Accounting Technician).

I would appreciate your advice.
Thank you.

Hi Natalya,

do you mean temporary visitor status or temporary work permit when you are speaking of temporary status expiring on Feb 28, 2010?

My friend just received a 12 months visitor visa (but cant study or work either) since she is waiting in Canada for her PR application to come through. Obviously CIC accepted this as a reason and gave her a renewal of her status quite generously. Before this she has been in Canada on 2 different work & travel visa (similar to BUNAC).

Would BUNAC work for you? You should check that possibility depending on your nationality...

And have you thought about some provincial programs? Some (like Ontario) offer an open work permit with the provincial nomination but they are employer driven... Not sure if that's an option for you to find a job and then go the Student-PNP Stream of Ontario... you should look into this if you are willing to relocate. Just google Ontario Provincial Nominee Program.

That's so far what comes to mind...

Thank you, Mermaid3011, for your reply and suggestions. Unfortunately, I am not eligible for BUNAC due to my nationality. I am on a study permit right now, and will graduate in Dec 2009 from the Bachelor of Commerce - Accounting program.

It would be really nice to have an extension for few months after Feb 2010. I will consider the option of applying for a visitor visa.

Thank you.
Natalya.

You should be eligible for a post graduation job experience work permit which would not require labor market approvals. Could find such a job in your field?
