Awaiting a background review?
9 months after submitting my full application and supporting documentation, I sent off a case specific enquiry asking when we might get our medical request and if it could be sent electronically. The answer was very prompt:
Please be advised that your application is awaiting a background review by an immigration officer. We will write to you when we are in a position to do so. Medical instructions cannot be sent electronically as the form carries your photo and our port stamp.
We hope this information is of assistance to you.
So does anyone know where in the process they do a 'background review'? Are we still awaiting a first look or is it the last thing they do before sending out medical requests? At this point, any insight would be great!

I had almost exactly the same reply after I e-mailed them asking when I might be getting my passport request (i.e. post medical).
So I suspect it's a generic response.

Hi
All things being equal the backgrounds are supposed to be completed before the medical request is sent. As what is the point of sending a medical if the applicant doesn't pass the background?

Thanks for the responses. The wait is becoming a bit tedious now!
