Default Attention:A. Miller, pls. help me about sponrship!!

I am happy to inform you that I got my visa with permanent residence status few days ago.

Now I want to know that if I get married just before my departure to canada (like 1/2/3 weeks ago) in my own country and if I would like to process her documents as a sponsor after arrival in Canada , will it be a problem or is there any legal obstacle in this regard ? My visa is valid upto 30 March 2004.

Pls. I need this information.

Thank you.

First of all - you only got PR visa, not PR status. You will get PR status
once you formally land in Canada before your visa expires.

If you got married now (prior to landing) then your PR visa is null and void
already and you have to return it to visa post, together with your spouse's
application package. If you didn't get married yet then don't do it prior to
landing as your visa will become invalid.

Congratulations.

You will not be able to get married before you land in Canada. If you
do and do not declare this, there are two minor inconveniences. Firstly,
you will NEVER be able to sponsor her. Some people consider that a bit of a
legal obstacle. Secondly, the false declaration you will have made in not
declaring this fact will result in your PR status being withdrawn. As
before, some consider it a problem.

So...in other words, if you're going to get married, great. However,
make sure that you are completely honest with regards to this when you land.

Congratulations and good luck.
