Assistance on where/how to start!?

Hello,

Ive been looking through some websites and forums and just wondered if i could get some help as ive never really looked at anything like this before.
My situation:
-I am a 20 year old British citizen working full time
-I'm hoping to move within the next year or two if possible
-I would like to move to the Ontario province but would also consider quebec (near montreal end)
-I dont really know where to start with my application / what i would even apply for
-I didnt go to university but i completely A-levels in England.
-I would prefer to go to work rather than go to study (any industry is an option, e.g office work, construction, entry level training jobs ect...)
-however I'm interested in opportunities such as degree apprenticeships and would even consider going for a full on degree at a university, although the idea of a working degree apprenticeship appeals to me more.

I'm just unsure of where i can start as there are many options of things to apply to. I am also unsure of what is the best option for me and i am relaly just seeking some help as I have no one around me who has moved country.

Any help would be much appreciated, thank you :)

Hi, welcome to BE.

Without a degree and much work experience, you're not going to qualify for most visas. But luckily, for those aged 30 and under, there is the IEC visa which would be the obvious answer for you IMO.

So have a look at that, it's a 2 year open work permit that would get you over to Canada. You can then see if you like it there and try to stay longer if so.

HTH, best of luck.

Hello,

Thank you very much. I will look into this for sure!

Just so i know what to expect, would i just look for an extension of the IEC after 2 years if i liked living there? Or am i more likely to have to apply for another visa before requesting permanent residency?

No extensions of IEC work permits so yes you would need to look at other routes. Of course there is always the possibility of meeting the person of your dreams and then start looking at spousal/common law route. Others have done it using the IEC route so they might chime in but it won't be a fast process. Canadian Experience Class springs to mind. Provincial Nominations also will come into play but rather than filling your head with this and that you should concentrate on the IEC.
