arranged employment and 12 months TWP..Mr Miller

Hi,
Although this topic is discussed in much details before, I ended up confused while searching for all the required information to claim arranged employment for some one who has a valid TWP. I found two contradicting posting by Mr Miller(excuse me if I'm wrong). In one of his posting long back in 2003 http://britishexpats.com/forum/showthread.php?t=174079 its mentioned "the work permit is valid for at least 12 months after the date of the application for a permanent resident visa" as one of the requirement to claim arranged employment . Where as another post http://britishexpats.com/forum/showthread.php?t=524387
its contradicted .

Could some one please help me understand that if I have a valid TWP and my employer offers a permanent job can I claim arranged employment to expedite the PR process even though only 8 months left on my TWP.

Thanks,
Sbhusan

As long as the work permit was initially issued for at least 12 months, and you still have a valid work permit when the visa is issued, you'll be fine.

Things change - what was applicable 5 years ago may not be applicable today (and quite often isn't).

Current (as at the time I type this reply) rules for claiming arranged employment are indicated in section 10.13 of chapter OP06 (dated 2008-04-24) of Immigration Manual here:

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/resourc...s/op/op06e.pdf

There is currently no requirement for initial WP to be valid for at least 12 months. But you must have valid work permit at the time of visa issuance. Of course it may change tomorrow or at any time in the future.
