Your nearest port is at COUTTS, just south of Lethbridge. This is a larger port and deal with 'Flagpoling' on a daily basis.

It's about a 3 hr drive from City centre.

Hi Leecyndisanders thanks for replying.
My plains to get a job offer as a carpenter and flagpole to apply for the Alberta Pilot Project which is Lmo exempt.
I would be greatful for a description of the flag polling procedure at Coutts.
Thanks.
Has anyone used this port???

Unfortunately when I flagpoled it was on a simple Spousal PR sponsorship.
As for the AB PP, I have no idea how that works.

For me it was simply enter the States, then get an administrative refusal, where they told me to return to Canada, with a piece of paper they gave me. On returning to Canada showed my Passport with Visa etc and within 30 mins was considered landed.

Parameters of the Pilot Project
To ensure the protection of the Canadian labour market, Temporary Foreign Workers taking part in the occupation-specific pilot will be required to have an initial job offer from an Alberta employer or an employer acting on behalf of a recognized Group of Employers.

The job offer from the employer must indicate that the wages offered are consistent with the prevailing wage rate paid to Canadians in the same occupation in the region and that the working conditions for the occupation meet the current provincial labour market standards.

Basically you need the job offer as indicated above. Take the paperwork to the border along with $155 for the work permit.

Flagpoling at any land border is the same procedure. You leave Canada and either spend several hours in the US shopping, lunch or looking around and then return to Canada with all of your documentation needed for whatever procedure i.e. new work permit, visitor record or landing. Present the documents and pay any fee and thats it.
The only problems arise is when people don't have all of the necessary documentation otherwise its simple.

Carway has limited hours for immigration, and from my personal experience there, I would recommend Coutts for sure. It's a much larger office with the people with more experience.

When I go to Coutts to do the flagpole, do I need any separate kind of document to cross the border into the USA, All I will have is the paperwork relating to our Parent/Grandparent Super Visa, and our British passports, is this all we need? we don't to have anything else at all?

Never been to Coutts. Flagpoled at Carway a couple of times and it was very straightforward.
