Default Applying for Citizenship

Hi folks,

Well, me and missus Jaffa want to apply for Canadian citizenship, and we have a couple of questions for you...

1. We have been here nearly 3 years with a couple of weeks spent outside of the country sine we landed here in Jan '08. When can I apply for citizenship?

2. Most importantly, how do I apply for citizenship

Sorry again for stupid questions....

Thanks

Jaffa

3 years plus your two weeks absence. i.e. January 2011 plus two weeks.

The online residency questionnaire is all you need to check when you can apply

The process is amazingly straightforward compared to PR

I know because we've just managed to fill in in our application with no arguments whatsoever , despite a last minute dash to the safe deposit box to recover our COPRs

I will UPS it tomorrow

The delays for citizenship are as ridiculous as they were for PR when we applied. I sent off our application at the end of January, and received an acknowledgement of receipt of the application a short time ago. This was merely an acknowledgement, they said they would review it in due course, whatever the hell that means. I now wish that I didn`t apply the first day I was able to (we have spent some time out of the country) and had left a week or two of wriggle room. I would hate to go to the back of the queue simply because some bureaucrat decides we hadn`t been in the country long enough when we applied, even though by now s/he would be able to see that we have.

Here`s hoping my calculations (yes. I used the form on their webiste) are correct

I'm just grateful that it wasn't like that when I got mine in 1974 !
