Default Applied in Jan '02 at Buffalo, recvd interview letter

Application Sent Feb 2002
AOR received May 2002
Interview Letter May 2003 (3 days ago)

I am presently on an H1B for almost 6 years in the United States. I
had completed my undergraduate and graduate studies here. I also have
a wife and two children who are co-applicants. My points are above
the required limit, even with the new regulations.

People with my background usually never received an interview call.
Some of my friends (with similar background) who applied before
December 2001 never got such a request. Could this be due some new
security measure. Maybe it's because I am from Pakistan, a country
whose citizens are perceived to be of high risk? I really was not
expecting this since it pushes the process timeline further out.

Interview requirement has nothing to do with your points, background or
qualifications. It has everything to do with the way application package
with all supporting documents was prepared and presented. Interview is
required if processing officer is unable to make selection decision based
solely on info and documents provided with the application and needs to talk
to you to verify, clarify or evaluate some facts or claims she or he has
doubts or questions about. In short - you did a rather poor job preparing
the application.
