Dear all

another possibly silly looking question but I would just want to know if I should
expect an acknowledgement receipt after my application is handed in ?

thanks in advance

An Acknowledgement of Receipt is issued for each case that is submitted, and contains
your individual file number. This generally takes between 6 and 12 weeks to obtain,
although it can be longer in the cases of some visa offices.

Hi:

You can reasonablly expect to receive your Acknowlegement of Receipt Letter between 8
to 12 weeks, from the time your application is submitted.

Thanks for the replies ! another question : how about student authorization ? My
cousin was told that student authorization can take as short as 3-6 weeks to get it
done. So how would they get acknowledged receipt in this case ?

My other query is that my cousin is applying for postgrad study there. But I think
the application might be late for college as the sponsorship letter may well be
delayed. So what was done was that the applciation was handed in as told with a
letter stating that the missing papers would arrive in 6 weeks' time. This sounds to
me like pure disaster !

That invariably leads to another bizzare: how good are the chances of getting the
whole authorization done on time in this scenario ? Uni starts in September.. Air
tickets are booked and everything done except authorzation.. air tickets have to be
paid in advance, which may be very well be before the student authorization comes
out.. Failing to pay up air fare could mean booking a last minute flight that cost
double of what you are paying now; or you can jolly spend $6000 or more on a one way
ticket (economy)...can a person fly to Canada and have the student autho sent via DHL
with the student heading back to immigrations in Canada ?

My sincere apologies for chaotic cousin, but billion of thanks in advance for any
advise kindly rendered.

Kaix
