It's only been a month - you need to give it a while longer!

But they have published the no of COMPLETE applications received.

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigra...plications.asp

So that means the application is returned or payment should be deducted.
Am I correct?

Yes, but it can take quite a while for them to take payment or respond. If I recall correctly, it took them 5 months to take payment after we sent our FSW application in. Admittedly things are quicker now, but it still isn't *that* quick! Have a look at other threads for timelines, I think that normally you would expect to get your PER after a couple of months.

And if you do get your application returned, then that does take several months. Be prepared to wait for everything in Canadian immigration, and to be patient as much as possible!

Good luck, hope you hear something soon.

You will need to get good at the waiting game as per christmasoompa's suggestion. It's all part and parcel of what can be a very long journey indeed.

good luck

Hi.

The totals on the website show the number of applications that have had the completeness check successfully passed.

I think that what happens next is that your payment form goes to their finance/accounts department for processing, and the rest of your file goes to the immigration officer for the eligibility review.

So the payment will not be taken as soon as the completeness check is done, could take a day or two. Might be even longer if there's any backlog with their accounts team (over the summer I imagine with staff being on holiday it can be slower).

You should hopefully get news of the eligibility review within 2 months. It was down to around 4 or 5 weeks but I think that's slipped a bit with the intake in early July from stockpiled applicants.

The applicants this time last year had 4 months of utter darkness, with NO IDEA what the system even would be. Will we get anything from CIO? Will we have to wait until the application gets to visa office?

The first recorded correspondence for all of July/August/Sep 2010 applicants was 23rd November!

So 1 month isn't anything really ;p Ask 2003/2004 applicants about waiting!

That will be all you will hear now for a little while.

CIO have to now go through your application and decide if you do qualify for the NOC category and that you have sufficient points to be eligible.

We waited over 4 months for our Positive Eligibility Review e-mail, which is the communication you receive from CIO before they send the application on to the Visa office, so be prepared to wait quite a while now until they contact you again.

Hopefully it won't be that long for you, but it might be, so take a chill pill.

That means our application is now in Phase 2(Eligibility Review). They say if not eligible they will send a letter. Do they send an email (and not a letter) only if we pass the eligibility review?
Please advice.

Phase Description on Web

Completeness check

If your application is:
 incomplete or;
 the occupation you are applying under has reached the allowable limit under category 1,
your entire package (including your payment) will be returned to you with a letter explaining why it is being returned.

Eligibility Review

An officer will make a final determination of eligibility of your application to determine whether:
 your application qualifies for processing under one of the two categories described in the Ministerial Instructions
If your application does not qualify for processing under the Ministerial Instructions you will be sent a letter that:
 provides the reason why your application is not eligible for processing
 confirms that a refund for the processing fee will be issued

Selection and Admissibility

If your application is eligible for processing, your application will be assessed against the following requirements:
 minimal requirements
 selection factors

 admissibility (criminality, security, medical)
 If your score is equal to or greater than the pass mark, your application will be sent to the visa office for further processing.

In reality, this is how it goes;
1) When CIO have made their decision about whether to accept you or not, they send you an e-mail.
If it is positive, this e-mail contains your file number for checking ECAS etc.

2) CIO pass application to the VO, who put it in the queue

3) Eventually the VO post on ECAS that they have received it.

4) After some time the VO post on ECAS that they have begun processing
you

5) They send med requests/police checks requests etc.

The times between these stages are totally random, it seems at the moment, so no-one can really help you on timescales.
I hope you are lucky and get processed nice and promptly, but there are no meaningful averages to work predictions from.
