AOR number format

AOR number format
Hi there
Can someone please tell us the format of an AOR file number. We have a copy of our bank draft and there are lots of different numbers on the back and we want to try and check the status of our PR application. There is a CIC sticker with a barcode on the back and also what seems to be bank account details from Toronto and Ontario.
The bank draft was cashed on 18 August 08 by Buffalo, New York but we have not received anything from them. Our lawyer wrote an e-mail to them enquiring of the whereabout of our application but they have no record of it. They asked for both sides of the bank draft to be sent to them so they can try and tie things up which we have sent today but our lawyer thinks that our file has been lost for the second time in 3 years, the first being by CHC London in April 2007. What are the chances of that eh!!!
Any info would be greatly appreciated.

File number is also clearly printed on the barcode sticker.
