I know how you feel! And I've been watching your timeline to try to gauge ours ...

My Granny used to say the best things in life were worth waiting for. I so hope she was right!

Trouble is, I want to get on the train and head to the CHC to see if I could help process all the applications!

I suppose this is what's meant by "playing the long game"!

LOL! Yup me too. I am just desperate to dive into that pile of applications and speed it all up...
Now obviously we can't do our own applications (serious bias), but maybe if we go down en-masse and do each others applications?!

16 weeks waiting for these medical requests, it's driving me mad! At this rate we may end up buying in NS and moving before we get our PRs... after all our house sale here will complete in the next 4-6 weeks and thats the last thing (aside from paperwork) holding us back. Already handed in my notice - 32 days left! Hubby won't hand in his notice just yet until we have a proper leaving date (easier for him to commute than me), so that leaves me doing all the packing....

I know lots of people on here have been waiting a long time, and it is not that I am ungrateful for this great opportunity of a faster turn around, it's just that to be told 6-8months all in and yet still waiting for meds is frustrating. So, who is up for a trip to the paperwork mountain?

Hey Lins,
What did you guys apply under? What is your situation - do you have a job offer? What about getting a TWP to tide you over a few years?

I am sure it will be fine. You got in before the paperwork changed. As long as you have the points and you drowned them with paperwork proving your worth, they can't say no! (Think positive, think positive...)

Hubby feels secure we have the points and funds, but is now in a panic that we won't pass the meds 'cos of some unforseen dire disease... I don't know what we will do if they refuse us. (It won't happen. Think positive. Think positive.)

I think we've got the points and the experience, but its the meds I worry about...i've got dodgy hip and wee man has autism....so lots of hoops to get through.
I have 2 interviews in 3 weeks time for the company I work with in Vancouver, but I'm nervous about TWP as I'll need surgery on my hips and we'll probably need more info about my wee boy (He has aspergers syndrome), so I think we will stay on the side of caution and stay in UK until PR granted.
Where are you hoping to settle?

We're the same as you - now no longer on the list. It was stressful enough without knowing it's our only shot ... We think we have enough points etc, but until we're through immigration and have those PR cards, I won't rest easy! Good luck to everyone!

We are looking to buy in Maders Cove / Mahone Bay area on the south shore of Nova Scotia. http://www.mahonebay.com/

We fell in love with the area when we first visited, and when we went back recently our feelings hadn't changed. Hubby is hoping to get work at the South Shore Regional Hospital based in Bridgewater - although there are no vacancies just yet, he has been to visit and toured the facilities. The staff seemed keen on him, even went so far as to see if anything was coming up he could apply for, so we are keeping our fingers crossed.

We have found a run-down property we would like to sink our claw hammers into and renovate, so we will be offering on that soon.

I am just hoping everything will fall into place. We have tried so hard to make sure everything our end runs smoothly, the rest is out of our control.

I heard about your hips issue. I truly hope that gets the medical attention it needs quickly - but I am also sure that it won't affect your Meds. Always worth getting a letter from your GP to explain the situation. Remember that the Canadians are most fussed about something they consider to be a 'long term drain' on their health service. I know a few people on here mentioned they have moved over with children that have autism or aspergers, so I am sure there are some folks on here that can give you additional advice if you need it (sorry- not teaching you to suck eggs, I bet you thought of that!). I think the CHC ask for an action plan for educational needs, specialist support if required, and psychological support if required and the costs associated with that. Might be worth starting that in case they do ask.

Where do you guys hope to settle?

Hi all

I'm already on the FSW timeline thread and so joining this one for a bit of moral support as I too am in limbo land. I am a nurse and I haven't even applied to the Canadian Registration Body for nurses yet as it costs a few hundred dollars and my FSW application may be refused yet. We haven't put our house up for sale either but if CIC approve us then we will probably rent out the house.

I know how you guys feel not knowing what is going to happen. The longer I wait the more scared I feel about the whole process- even the thought of having medicals is scaring me incase we discover something not good. It has been nearly 1 year ago since we did a 3 week recce in Ontario and now it feels like the memory of it is fading away.

I hope we aren't kept waiting for too much longer.

Hi Melsa,

I wish you (and us all) luck with the journey. I have heard that the registration exams for nurses are pretty long (8 hours?), but I can tell you that the vacancies for nurses (at least in NS) are huge! Hospitals are crying out for nurses in all departments. I hope that means when you do get your PRs, you will have the pick of where to go.

In the meantime, welcome to LimboLand.

How I smiled at that. With our lives on hold, our hopes resting on a faceless IO in London and our patience tested, LimboLand sums it up beautifully.

From LimboLand to the great white North ... here's hoping for us all!

Hi folks

I was wondering if anyone has an update on their application. I have not heard anything for four months and I have not changed to in progress on the website - so I am a bit worried.

I am heading to Munich for a few months and I was wondering if I need to do my medical could I do it over there and have the results posted to London. I don't want to cause confusion, but it would make life easier for me.

Thanks

We have heard nothing yet. Like you Lins, we are still on 'received by visa office'. Where the duck are our med requests? :curse:

18 weeks since AOR and counting.
