Default Anyone applied for family class (spousal) to Sydney Australia?

Just wondering if anyone has any timelines for Sydney since the new
(up-front medicals) went into place....

I did my medical last week, sent the paperwork to my husband - he's doing
his bit and hopes to send to Mississauga next week.

I keep hearing that Sydney's really slow, yet the few spousal cases I've
seen on the newsgroup seem relatively ok...

I've heard those stories too, although I don't know if things have
changed recently. I can't understand why CIC Sydney was slow in the
first place, not many Australians want to migrate to Canada.

It is not the Australains who are clogging up the works in Sydney but all
the offshore applicants who applied there. Sydney is also responsible for NZ
and Fiji and every other island state in the Pacific. Fiji is proabably the
biggest movement form the area to Camada, at least it was traditionally when
I was in Sydney. That being said spousal applicants are given priority and
should be processed in 6 months max.

Do you mean offshore from within Sydney's jurisdiction, or out of
jurisdiction entirely. If the latter case, surely the IRPA rules
should sort that out?

I thought most of the Pacific Islanders wanted to come to Australia or
NZ, and most Kiwis want to come to Australia Most of these Pacific
islands have a pretty small population compared to Australia and NZ.

I've recently been approved as a conjugal partner through Sydney. This is our timeline:

July 1 2003: File received in Sydney from Mississauga

August 17: AOR letter and request for fingerprints

September 23: Request for additional information (Traffic History Certificate)

October 8: Request for passport

This was with the up-front medical also. I found it to be quite an efficient and quick process, especially considering I had to send them extra information.
