Default Any experience chasing up a bridging visa application?

Has anybody had any luck or know of any way to chase a bridgng visa application? I know about the web form and both that and calling result in being told that it is in progress. However, 51 days is the stated processing time and the website says CIC are processing those received on June 21. My friends' application was received June 4 and they have heard nothing beyond the emails that indicate their file is being looked at etc. There is nothing unusual about their application and they were invited from the pool to apply for PR, and did. From my own experience I can't think of any reason for the delay or any reason they'd be turned down but I also don't know what else to suggest they do to follow it up.

If anyone can help it's people on this forum so I thought it worth an ask here!

Thanks in advance.

A bridging open work permit will only be approved (assuming the applicant is eligible and has submitted a complete application) if the Express Entry Application has passed the completeness check. Unfortunately the time that this takes is variable.

Thank you.
I may be mistaken but I think they have passed the completeness check. The updates they can get on their PR over the phone goes through all the criteria and says 'you do not need an interview, you have passed the medical...'etc and says their application is waiting to be assessed. Perhaps there is still more to the completeness check 😑
