Do you really mean conjugal or common law? I believe the first is for people who cannot marry where they are, gay couples in Saudi for example. I sponsored my conjugal partner as a common law and that worked.

Hi, I meant conjugal and not common law, although we did live together we can not prove it legally so we have to go down this unfortunate route. As it was my house but he was not on any bills or any legal documents!

I wasn't on any bills (I was sponsor, he my common-law partner) and we could prove our relationship beyond doubt - why can't you? I don't think conjugal is a category for people with scant evidence... will they not just refuse you straight off?

(okay, I know the child with both names on the birth certificate helped in our case, but still, CIC realise not everyone in a relationship shares bills/bank accounts/whatever)

I actually never that of doin it the common law way. I just thought they would not even consider it because everything is in my name. Do you think that is the best option?

How did you prove your relationship beyond any reasonable doubt without you being on any bills or official documents?

Don't bother applying via conjugal sponsorship, from what you've said you wouldn't succeed anyway. You need a jolly good reason to apply for conjugal - from the CIC website:

This category is for partners—either of the opposite sex or same sex—in exceptional circumstances beyond their control that prevent them from qualifying as common-law partners or spouses by living together.

From what I understand, you have to provide evidence of why you were unable to live together - not something you would be able to do!
