Default Am i eligible for dual nationality?

hi, new to the boards so sorry if I'm in the wrong section.

I am in the position whereby i could benefit from holding dual nationality for work purposes. I am british, live in england and i hold a british passport and both of my biological parents are british. However my step father (from a very young age) is canadian and only holds a canadian passport and citizenship. from the complicated website i cannot see if this makes me eligible to apply for dual nationality...can anyone shed some light?
Thanks

I think it has to be direct parents, but someone on here would be able to clarify for you,

If you were adopted by your Canadian step-father, you can apply for "grant of citizenship" through adoption by a Canadian parent.

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/informa...t-adoption.asp

This application is for persons applying for citizenship who were or will be adopted by a Canadian citizen.

The adopted person:
  • was or will be adopted on or after January 1, 1947
  • is not a Canadian citizen
  • has at least one (1) parent who was a Canadian citizen at the time of the adoption
  • includes minors, persons who were adopted as children and are now adults, and persons who were adopted as adults
