Default Am I eligible to apply for a CSQ at the Quebec office in NYC?

Hi everyone,

I had a quick question. I recently submitted an application for a CSQ to the Quebec immigration office in NYC, and they followed up and asked for a copy of my work permit for the US. In the application, I had submitted a copy of my US visa stamp which expired in July.

I have been living in the US since Sept 1999 on a student visa, and have been on a one year work permit which expires in Jan 2004, so my status is valid but will soon expire.

I am concerned that they will return my application when they find out that I can only stay in the US for another 4 months.

Does anyone know the official policy?

Shouldn't matter. When we got our CSQ, we had 5 months on our H1/H4 visa.

Yeah, it would suck if they gave me trouble over this. It's funny how they don't really cater to people who move around a lot, even though it's a good indicator of adaptability.

How many months were left on your H1/H4 when you actually submitted the CSQ application?

Thanks. Did they interview you?

It's weird - I've seen timelines such as:

French speaker...
June 2003 - Submitted CSQ Application
July 2003 - Received CSQ

and yours

Nov 2002 Submit application
May 2003 Receive CSQ

Are you french speaking? I wonder what explains the odd timeline differences.

yeah ... we had to go through the interview ... We are not French speakers ... besides I had to postpone our interview by 2 months for personal reasons ... otherwise, we would have got our CSQ in March.
