Yes ...

The terms University and College can be very confusing in Canada.

A College can be a standalone Diploma granting institution (like a
community college) or a college can be a division (alternate location,
or school of study) of a university.

In this case, Algoma is actually a part of Lakehead University.
Lakehead is located at Thunder Bay ... Algoma is located at the other
end of Lake Superior at Sault St. Marie.

It is a provincially recognized degree granting institution.

This is incorrect. Algoma is actually an affiliate of Laurentian
University, not part of Lakehead U.

There is one thing Lakehead and Laurentian have in common- the
Northern Ontario Medical School slated to open in 2004. The new
medical school will have two main campuses, one at Lakehead in Thunder
Bay, and the other at Laurentian in Sudbury.

Thanks for picking that up ... I read Laurentian and wrote Lakehead ...
since Cambrian College in Sudbury is strongly affiliated with
Laurentian, it didn't seem wrong.

Anyway, the bottom line though is that it is still very much recognized
as a university and not an invention like some of the colleges that are
advertising themselves around the web pretending to be a genuine
institution when all they do is offer fake degrees.
