Alberta PNP
Hi BritishExpats
We now have our Express Entry profile all updated and sorted and have 429 points. We've done everything we can to get out max score and not likely to learn French. So I've researched all our PNP options and weighed up against employment prospects/ rental stock availability in line with our purpose for wanting to move to Canada. We're now settling into the idea of focusing in on Calgary Alberta. I know they haven't had a Express Entry draw for quite a long time, and don't offer any direct routes to applying for their PNP so just wanted to check in to see if there is anything else we can do.
On our express entry profile we have changed our interest in provinces from all to only Alberta (keeping a single tick rather than multiple after some advice given here). I see that there is a RNIP portal but from what I can tell you can only access/ apply after you have been sent an EOI. Is there anything else we can do? And am I totally off by thinking that by just ticking Alberta - we'd be at least somewhat able to be reviewed from their side and may be eligible for a PNP if they need/ want our NOC?
Many thanks

Re: Alberta PNP
Personally I would put down 'all Provinces' to give yourselves the best chance of being picked for one of the PNP routes. For instance, Ontario have picked anyone who is scoring over 400 points before
This is how AINP works: https://www.alberta.ca/ainp-alberta-...ry-stream.aspx and the new process due to Covid: https://www.alberta.ca/ainp-changes-...-covid-19.aspx - however, on the 2nd link it says
Only individuals living and working in Alberta will be considered for a nomination at this time.
It may be worth checking the points profile if your '2nd' applicant were to be the lead applicant - IT is often a good route in!
Perhaps take a look again at the Atlantic Provinces pilot project. How it works is that you apply to designated employers who are seeking people in your NOC, get a job offer and then apply for PR... working under a TWP while it's being processed.

Alberta Express Entry Stream
We will continue to do selection draws and nominate individuals under the Alberta Express Entry Stream.Only individuals living and working in Alberta will be considered for a nomination at this time.

Re: Alberta PNP
Thanks Siouxie - that's really helpful. We'll go back to 'all provinces' again. There are so many small details, so thanks for sharing the details about the AINP.
I've been studying the PNPs for Ontario, BC and Alberta for a couple months and there is always more teeny tiny details. And as you say great options around IT - however I fall short of all the eligibility criteria because I've been freelancing for the last 5 years - and so my experience doesn't officially count because it's not full time or part-time 'employed' from what I can tell. My partner has a Masters (I have a BSc), and his work experience is solid in terms of time, full time, same employer etc - so we think he is best placed for points for the express entry system.
I'll have a look again as the other PNPs, and see if there is any details that would suite our situation (my partners NOC code being on their in demand list/ leeway around what counts as experience).
That's good news to hear that Ontario have sent invitations to anyone with points over 400 before.
Many thanks again
