Hi,
I’m hoping someone can help me with my immigration questions.
I am looking for what the best and quickest option is for me when it comes to applying for PR in Canada. I’m 56 years old and work on the line in a van factory.
I am actually in a relationship with someone from Canada and we want to move in together there. I’m not sure if common law partnership is something that applies to me. And what are the restrictions?
I will also be selling my house and various other things so that will give me quite a lot of money to move over with. Around $450,000. Does that help my case in anyway? Can I move to Canada on just a money basis?

There are family class class routes to PR which do cover common law. Common law is defined as 12 months in a marriage like relationship, which needs to be adequately proven.

Hi, and welcome to BE.
If you are 'common-law partners', then yes, she could sponsor you for PR. But for that you need to have been living together for a year or more as husband and wife, is that the case? If you're in the UK and she's in Canada, then no, it won't apply to you.
Unfortunately that wouldn't be enough for any investment based visa.
Is marriage an option perhaps?

If you have lived with your partner for one year or more in a romantic relationship (and can prove it) you would be considered a common law couple, and eligible for family class sponsorship (assuming all other parts work out, eg your sponsor isn't a bankrupt or on welfare).
Canada has closed most of its investment streams - the only one I can think of that remains allows you to buy PR by lending $1.2m to Quebec for 5 years.

Which means "living under the same roof, sharing domestic responsibilities (lease, bills, etc.)", so isn't going to apply if he is in England and his beloved is living in Canada.
