Hi everyone:

I am expecting my Canadian PR in few weeks; however, due to sticky economical
situation here in US I lost my job recently. I was just wondering if it is possible
for us (my wife and me) to enter in Canada as a visitor and later on be landed
Immigrant within Canada itself.

I do not want to get into any kind of status problem here in US so I want to move
to Canada (Toronto) as soon as possible. I would appreciate if one can give a
good advice.

Thanks! Ramesh

You cannot land from within Canada. If you require a visa to enter Canada as a
visitor and have PR application pending then it is likely that in the circumstances
you just described visitor visa and/or entry as visitor will be denied.

Few weeks overstay will not cause you any problems in the US.

If you can obtain a CVV or already have them you can enter as visitors and
subsequently land by what is commonly known as running around the flag pole. You
could actually leave and re enter Canada with your PR visas. I would counsel you
to NOT to remain in the USA out of status as USINS have severe penalties for
persons who do.
