At the last emigrate show at Sanddown in October I waited over an hour in line to speak to one of the CIC immigration officials directly, and this was one of my questions, and was told if you are born and educated in the UK they take it for granted you can speak english, so therefore I had no need to subnit a written statement or take a language test.

These people at the CIC are highly educated and intelligent they can see from your education, qualifications, work history and family background (parents are UK born) that English is your first language.

Fair enough if you feel better submitting a written statement, they by all means do so, but it is really not necessary.

Remember the next show is coming up soon 18-20 March 2005 at Sandown.
