Post Advice please!!

Hi all,

I am really contemplating moving and starting a new life out in Canada (Vancouver to be specific)

I am 26 with 2 good university degrees behind me (physics/ Masters in comp science) with no commitments so now seems the right time to up-root.

Can I please have advice on the best method of getting into Canada? I work in the city of London doing IT as a System Analyst/Administrator/Network engineer for a stockbrokers.

I am about to complete my Police/English test/ Skilled worker application...should I hold out until I have a job offer? or can I submit one without?

My job is not on the NOC list so another barrier in my way!!!

I really do not want to live in a French part (as one I don't speak french and I have no intention of living in an French province)

can anyone please help if they have had similar experiences and best methods to apply for jobs and how to go about securing an offer, it seems a proper catch-22 how and why will a Canadian employer offer a job when I don't have any legal status.

Points, got around 72-76 points, I am healthy, with good education, no family, no criminal background and the funds to support myself!

thoughts and ideas greatly appreciated!

thanks,

chris

A skilled workers application can be submitted without a job offer.

However if your job is currently not on the eligible occupations list there's not much point in applying under the skilled workers scheme. I'd all stop on that little project until a suitable way forward is hopefully identified by other members.

The eligible occupations list is due to be update in June. Some occupations will go and others added, so bear that in mind as June isn't too far away.

I would get one of those Canada International Experience working holiday visas and hunt for jobs like CRAZY when you get here.

There are so many IT people in this town but if you suck it up for probably less than what you're making right now and have them fill out the PNP application, then you're set

Go for PNP, your job doesn't have to be on the Skilled Worker list (which it's not anymore) but the employer needs to vouch and support you with a permanent full time offer in the regular wage range and a recommendation letter. It's very employer driven...if they can demonstrate a need for your skills

PS: Why would you wanna move here? Have you been here before? I always wanted to live in London

Have you ever been to London? I wouldn't live London if you paid me.

We often fancy a stab at what we haven't got Grass is greener etc.

Yes, I've been to London a few times over the summers in university and would move there in a heart beat. Before they had a program where if you graduated from certain Ivy League universities, you qualify for their PR which I always thought about doing but then they got rid of it

to Vbomb,

It just looks so nice/clean good standard of living etc etc.

I do like London, but I have always wanted to live elsewhere (Canada or Australia)

I am willing to take a pay cut, as long as I can eat I will be happy!
