Adult step-son
Hi guys,
I am currently looking to secure a job on a Temporary work permit. Then looking at becoming perminant.
Looks like I won't be able to include my 21 year old step-son on the visa, is this correct or am I missing something?

Yep, Aviator is right, he's too old and not considered a 'dependent child' so can't be included in any visa app you make. Unless he's dependent on you because of a 'physical or mental condition'? That's the only way he would qualify.

Re: Adult step-son
Step-son is almost 21. No blood relationship but brought him up since he was 4 and always treated as my own.
Currently he is in a relationship and not living at home, but relationship appears turbulent and would have loved to include him, or at the very least have peace of mind that we could bring him out go Canada at a later date.
Gutted.

Changes to the Maximum Age in the Definition of Dependent Child
Although if he was in a relationship at the time of application, he would not be classed as a dependent even if they did change the age back to 22.
If all else failed, your step-son could apply for an International Experience Canada 2 year open work permit, then providing he was granted one he could possibly find a way to remain permanently.
