My partner is currently on a student visa and I am on a work permit
(these were obtained separately as we were not yet considered as
common-law partners). His student visa expires at the end of August
and my work permit expires in September. The student visa needs to be
extended for about 2-3 months so he can finish his degree; at the same
time my employer is currently in the process of renewing my work
permit (getting HRDC approval).

Our dillema is whether or not I should add my partner to my work
permit so that he can also get a work permit here after finishing his
degree. Will CIC "get confused" between these two applications for
the same person, one for student visa extension and one for a work
permit as my partner ? Or is there perhaps something that I´ve
overlooked ?
