Default 50 days, no AOR. Should I call?

It's been 50 days since my application arrived in Mississauga, and I haven't received an Acknoledgement of Receipt. Should I call? Should I be worried? Does it slow down the application to call?

It's a family sponsorship application for my common-law spouse.

Sorry, I searched the forum but didn't come up with any results... What's IA?

95 days for a AOR? What stage of the process are you at now?

Hello, my sponsor and I also common law and our application first went to Mississauga. First thing to happen will be a letter of sponsorship approval from Mississauga which in our case took about 3 weeks. Then your application will be sent to the visa post responsible for processing your permanent residence. This is the office that will send you the AOR, not Mississauga.

Personally, I would not worry. Mississauga may have a backlog in the summer and remember postage in and out of Canada can take a few days to over a week depending on the country you live.

Oh, by the way IA has nothing to with family class sponsorship cases like ours, I think the person mentioning it may be confused with skilled worker or independant class applicants.

Regards,
Ozinca

Thanks, Ozinca. I guess there's nothing I can do but wait... I'm trying to be optimistic that our application will be speedily processed, but preparing for the worst!

Good luck to you!

Julie.

When I applied in June of 2002, it took around 130 days before I got my AOR; Try to be patient.

Yes, but I guess those at yogi799.com are waiting for various types of work visas. I've applied through the Family Sponsorship, so presumably we won't have to wait as long...

Hi
Yes, you are right, if you apply in a family category you should expect AOR earlier.
People who provided their timelines at yogi799.com are all Independent Applicants.

In my personal opinion - it doesn't slow down your application if you call your office. You can always do it as an anonymous, and you can ask f.e. how long can it take to get AOR if somebody applied on -date-

good luck
MJ
