16yo looking to work in Alberta for 6 months
 

Hello. I'm sixteen and live in Scotland I have left school and have a full time job.
Would it be possible to live and work in Alberta for 6 months?

I have an uncle who has full citizenship and lives in red deer, would this help?

At 16, this is very unlikely.

In two years time, you will qualify for International Experience Canada (assuming it still exists), which allows British citizens aged 18-30 a single two-year open work permit. At present, applications outnumber spaces by about 2:1, and the participants are chosen randomly, which means you might not get an invitation in the first year you try (or any given subsequent year).

People can get sponsored for a work permit through an employer, but there are two related problems: It's very unlikely that you have skills a company would go to the trouble to sponsor you for, and it's even more unlikely that the permit would be approved - what would you bring to the employer that any Canadian child at the same age, or adult with more experience wouldn't?

If you are orphaned (and single), your uncle could sponsor you for permanent residency through family class. Alternatively, if your uncle has no romantic partner and no children and no brothers or sisters alive anywhere in the world, they could sponsor you (https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration...igibility.html).

HI

1. The last statement is not quite right.
2. If the Uncle has no wife/nor children, his parents are deceased, and he doesn't have a brother/sister/Aunt/Uncle/Nephew/Niece residing in Canada , then he can sponsor on relative.
