Confusion is gone after reading the following:

The additional documents requested in Appendix A of the Visa Office specific forms, are required when you submit your application to the CIO.

in the section 3 on this page:

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/informa...ns/skilled.asp

It mans full, complete package with all forms, language test results and all other required by visa post documents must as of today be submitted to CIO.

Additional break for CIO it seems....

I would agree with you, that you are going to have to submit a complete application to Sydney and if it is approved, you just have to send the originals of the documents required on the Visa Specific Document List.

9. Why are you eliminating the simplified application?

Since we changed to the simplified application we’ve noticed a significantly higher number of applicants withdraw when asked for their supporting documents, or full application. By eliminating the simplified application and asking for all the documentation at once, we will make processing more efficient. Eliminating the simplified application shaves 120 days off the total processing time, because this is the time we allowed applicants to send in their supporting documents.

It may also be the early indication of CIC's intention to move processing completely, albeit gradually, to Canada at some point in the future.

Would anyone care to weigh-in with more clarification on the requirements around language testing?

My partner is a native English speaker, born in the UK, thus claiming all points for this area. She may try to claim a few points for her basic French skills.

In the application checklist it states under #9 "Language proficiency test results from one of the following designated testing agencies: · IELTS · CELPIP or · TEF."

And under #10 in the Backgrounder FAQs it states "Under the changes to the Federal Skilled Worker Program and the Canadian Experience Class, all new applicants are required to include the results of an English or French language test as part of their application."

Under the new system, is she now required to get tested in both English and French? Based on the two quotes above, I'd say no, she only has to get tested for French. Some folks here seem to think otherwise.

I know we're all very new to this and I truly appreciate those senior members who are taking the time to look into this along with the rest of us.

Test results must be submitted only for the claimed language - if applicant claims proficiency in both languages then test results for both must be included.

Hi Ali, are you from Pakistan?

My application (IT Manager) was also received at CIO on the 30th April, and I think if we qualify per old rules - we will prevail (IA) and be assessed per old instructions without any capping etc. Rather I can see our process getting faster, again IF WE QUALIFY

Ok I'm going into a bit of a panic now

I am just about to submit our 120 day letter/paperwork to London. Paperwork will go off next week. Hubby is still on the new list...
As we are already 'in the system' so to speak will the capping still apply to our application?!

What a stress!!!!!!!

Going back to the new system where you now send everything to CIO including copies (?) of your Visa office specific forms/information....

The Visa office specific checklist for London (http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/pdf/kits/guides/E37023.pdf) has an updated date of June 2010 yet it still states "Once you have assembled all the required documents, send them to:
Immigration Section
Canadian High Commission
38 Grosvenor Street
London, UK
W1K 4AA12"

And, it also still mentions including your language testing results even though those now go to CIO under their new application list.

Anyone have a guess?

I think after all of this some of us should consider becoming immigration consultants!

J.

------
FSW Cat 1 sent to CIO Dec9 / 120-day letter Feb9 (sent to shut-down email address) / new email provided to CIO Mar15 / reply from CIO Apr12 with deadline of Jun8 / decision to withdraw due to insufficient employer proof May26 / re-application ASAP - and now it will be under new application scheme!

No different from previous application process - you still send your initial application to CIO in Sydney, NS, but then when you get your 120 day email you send your supporting docs to London (or whichever is your visa office).

I beg to differ; the new process is quite different.

Under #9 of their FAQ (http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/departm...010-06-26c.asp) is states:

From other new documentation including the above, it reads that you submit your CIO application + copies of all those items needed for your Visa office specific criteria. I don't know why copies...

My concern/confusion stems from the fact that the Visa office specific form for London says that it was updated June 2010 (no day) yet still states that you send your info to London - which goes completely against everything else...maybe they haven't updated it yet.

I've obviously completely misunderstood something, because I didn't think you had to send everything to Sydney now? Thought it was only language proof that you now had to send at initial stages?
