At least it is the idea.

The existing backlog? CIC will likely cherry pick applicants with skills Canada needs and give them push forward, while those with no skills needed will be left to dry. Many of them will of course finally realize that they need arranged employment if they want to move to Canada and hopefully substantial number of motivated applicants will find it. There will be some not knowing what is happening and some who will hope that maybe next year their skills will make the list.

Unfortunately there is no solution that could accommodate all in the backlog, not even any substantial portion of it, and at the same time bring skilled workers Canada needs urgently. Any hopes for increase of annual visa quotas that could make a dent in the backlog are just dreams.

Thank Liberals (the "pro immigration" party) for the mess.
Andrew, do you think inland applicants ( those already in Canada) will be benefited from the change??
Thanks.

Changes will not affect applicants with arranged employment, regardless if they are already working in Canada or are still abroad.

Cases with arranged employment will be processed, regardless the occupation, as long as arranged employment is in skilled occupation.

Hi Andrew, found this in forums telling that:
Just to clarify that not all the Provinces have quotas: BC for instance has no quota for number of PNP applicants each year - if you meet their criteria, you're in. Mind you, it may be that they have slightly more exacting criteria than some other provinces...?!
do you agree that BC PNP has no quota?

thanks.

Each PNP has a very limited annual quota ranging from couple hundreds to less than couple thousands per year.
