Thumbs up *** Changes to post-grad WP ***

Finally we have an Operational Bulletin on the subject:

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/resourc...tins/ob058.asp

It states among other things - If the program of study is two years or more, the student would be eligible for a three-year PGWP

So, now we know that duration of PGWP for eligible study programs of at least 2 years will be 3 years from now on, without geographical or occupational restrictions.

Quick question: Does an Open Permit by definition imply that a job offer is not required to obtain the permit? I ask because the amendments in the link did not specifically mention anything about eliminating that requirement (whereas the press release had).

Cheers,

Yes, from now on post-grad WP's will be open permits, no job offer needed.

But the Social Insurance Number held by such a person will still begin with 9 (I presume), which may put off some employers looking for permanent staff.
