Hi Gyogyszernelkul :),
You made me smile. Great name! You may need some gyogyszer after watching more of the English team losing. Not a good start. I never watch football, but after last night's disappointment there is no point on getting stressed over who is going to win. Get your medication ready!

As I said before, Hungary will win, as always :)!
Enjoy football anyway...

Well he certainly did just that! What was with Rooney, age catching up with him or being played out of position? A totally different league I know but my daughter plays centre mid and I know that she hates playing on the wing.

Re: World Cup 2014 - Who will win?

I don't think it was a massive surprise, this is the second score I have predicted correctly so far this tournament... I don't think anything is necessarily wrong, we just don't possess the talent or experience of Italy....

I certainly think squeezing in Raheem Sterling will make it difficult for Rooney to perform, the young lad loves running at people and unfortunately gives the ball away 80/% of the time making it tough to have a linked up attack. At least he put in a cracking cross for the goal, no sure why the media are singling out but they certainly are, let's face it our captain was even worst than Rooney last night.

Re: World Cup 2014 - Who will win?

From a laymans point of view, I thought they held their own against them but were just missing something up front. Whether that was Rooney playing on the wing or the inexperience or style of Sterling's game I don't know but you mentioning lining up an attack probably hits the nail on the head as they seemed disconnected up front. What's your prediction for Thursday's game?

If Uruguayan current form can be trusted then I can see a comparatively comfortable win for England but there are so many variables at the moment, if the ox is fit and we move Rooney centrally I can see a better balance and less
loss of the ball... Naturally Suarez is a concern, he is a fool but the best out and out striker in the world, but given that they did not risk him given the dire straights they were in against Costa Rica makes me wonder if his injury is more serious than portrayed?

Who knows really, we all love being arm chair managers but the gam is so complex, I successfully predicted scores on 2 of the games so far and said that Spain would certainly lose to holland but beyond that I am only picking the obvious stuff... Although I think there will be at least 3 for argentina tonight!

It's on in the morning for us. So several expats down here in NZ got together to watch the game. Some of the pubs opened early. Full English breakfasts were to the ready. The Italians watched it in the Italian club .

I think everyone was puzzled about Rooney's position. Close but not close enough for England with that game.

Onwards then. It really is a great international sporting competition.

Half time:popcorn: I feel so bad for the Bosnian player, so unlucky especially with Argentina playing the way they are.

llareggub, I've given up predicting scores, daughter is better than I am:o She agrees Suarez will be a huge factor on Thursday. When do Belgium play? It one I wouldn't have thought to watch but after what you said, they'll be interesting to watch.

Bev, sounds like you had a good time despite the result! Even my eldest is getting into it as she was working in Berlin with the lads from their Amsterdam studio. She's a bit gutted to be going whale watching in Finland as she'll miss most of the matches and would have been in Amsterdam where there is a real party atmosphere :thumbsup:

Belgium play on Tuesday I believe but my head is all a jibber with travel at the moment, tonight's Germany Portugal game should be good too....

The Bosnian team are good and strong but they have a little craft too and with dzeko they do have a goal threat up front... So much for my 3 goal prediction though ;)

Unicum:):) Good for stomach nerves...LOL

You will all need it if watching the matches.
I personally think that Germany has a good chance to win the WC Fen :) ...you mean World Cup not WC ( water closet) don't you :)!

It's the most strong and complete team. They always have Ok players, but play well as a team. They don't lack a good defence and they have a world class goal keeper Neuer and the best striker in the world, forgotten his name, more likely after Argentina...

Maybe if there is GOD's will Brazil may have a good chance to win this year.

Just wait till the end! Good job I do not bet!

Enjoy it anyway!

Germany are to my mind the strongest team in the World Cup but surely the best striker in the world goes to Mr Suarez from Uruguay ;)

Both Ronaldo and Messi are better players but far from traditional strikers...

I have to go to the boat yard now and try and work out how to untangle the mess Rural, but the boat is not sea worthy as it is being built and has no engines yet ;). The plan was film the flooding of the dry dock tomorrow, her setting sail on Wednesday and then race her and the tug to boulogne on the train. And fly home at the weekend, now the dock is not flooded until Thursday and departure is 1am Sunday morning. Who knows when I will get home!

I will find a bar tonight that has the game on though... After a chat the clients are now expecting a seriously hefty expenses bill ;)

It's primarily timelapse which lends itself to a stills photographer more than a videographer but there is a little bit of bog standard video to play with too.

I always had an expense account in the uk but never submitted expenses as I could not be bothered with the paper work, not something I do now though ;)

I have been doing a little freelance work for a video production company for a while now but usually it is project management however this time they let me play with my camera ;)

Sorry Sue :o

Stonkingly good game of footie though... Thought Rpnaldo was lucky to,stay on the pitch after charging the ref as he did. Ref did him a favor as they were already down to 10 men.

Typically German football, utterly relentless. Never spectacular but always exactly where they need to be, to some extent I feel sorry for Ronaldo, he has spent his entire club career surrounded by the cream of world football and at an international level he is surrounded by amateurs.

Thank you <snipped> , just what I predicted all along. Germans, okeyish, but good team work. Don't feel sorry for Ronaldo..he gets his money, winning or not!

We are the real amateurs watching them play....they are all professionals on paper aren't they ? :)! They should do better for that reason.

Never mind, more bad matches still to come...I am a pessimistic these days...oh sorry. Don't want to get off the track, but if I go ballistic after a bad match, I might have to start a new post with Help please, this match drives me to insanity :)!

Please bear in mind, we are all British, so stay calm and carry on!

Whilst professional football players are handsomely compensated the pounds and pence figures for international competition are incredibly modest in comparison ;)

The German team that Joachim Löw helped to rebuild as assistant manager and then took over was awful, the work that both he and Juergen kilnsman put in as far back as 2004 are now baring fruit... Changing an international set up does not happen quickly and for far too long England's set up has been poor driven by stupidity by everyone from the fans right through to the FA!

I managed to catch some of the US match, well done them! Unfortunately, I missed the fireworks of the Germany game and have been waiting for highlights on TV this morning, in between doing lunches and school runs but not seen it yet.

Dunno if any of you noticed that Joachim Löw and the assistant manager always wear identical clothing. Think it was in the Daily Mail or someone on FB who spotted this ....

Portugal, my Work World Cup Sweepstake Team, were absolute rubbish. Nani continued his poor Man.Utd form and Ronaldo appeared to have been overwhelmed by the curse of winning the Ballon D'Or.

Didn't watch the Iran v. Nigeria match ...... due to security alert at Battersea Power Station .... turned out a gas canister was leaking so train services were suspended until resolved. Atleast I managed to get home to watch Portugal v.Germany on ITV+1 from the start albeit one hour behind. I refused to look at the online news or go onto FB just in case I saw the final score before it finished!
