Default Walking Trail Maps or Apps

Does anyone know where I can buy a map showing walking trails in Borsod Abauj Zemplen? Or an app?
I have found a couple of biking, running, hiking and walking websites with trails/routes. I'm looking for similar map to UK Ordnance Survey Explorer maps.

FenTiger, you may want to ask this question the Facebook site for Balaton Brits. Sorry I am no longer on Facebook or I would include the link.

Hi - I found an app mapy.cz . Someone on FB mentioned it to me. It even incudes dirt tracks. Soon I'll be walking the hills playing my ukele! ;-)

Tracks and trails in Hungary are marked with icons painted on trees or posts at eye level. They are about 10cm x 10cm of various colours and designs. See
https://www.kektura.click.hu/OKT/25_...al_info_09.htm
for info on trail markings, maps and other bits, or see
https://www.outdooradventureshungary...t-and-hungary/
for an explanation of the trail signs

Both in English.

I have spotted a post at eye level with signs pointing in two different directions but couldn't make out what they were for. Will check again next time. On the mapy.cz app it's clear the routes I have followed are dirt tracks or untarmacced roads, some with a name.

Puzzled looking at the very rusty post I eventually after passing another four same posts came up with 'GAZ'. They were pointing in different directions. I am not sure what they were supposed to mean.

I decided to trust the app, mapy.cz, I downloaded and follow what I believe are dirt tracks, some named and some unnamed roads. I tried to do a loop around a lake but seemed that dirt track had been fenced in by a Koi carp fishing lake! I did think maybe a farmer decided to "grab" that bit extra or it's just that the koi carp fishing lake owner wanted to fence it in for security reasons. Had to turn back but managed a 7.2km walk with a stretch whereby I could let the dog off the lead for a bit of a run. I could have headed in a different direction and head home along a route I'd been on before but wanted the dog to have another stretch of free running.

I have joined a Miskolc FB page and asked for some recommendations where I could walk the dog and one of them between Malyi and Nyekladhaza was where I had seen another dog owner head down on a dirt track. Other places I would need to drive to but I haven't got a car yet although I am hiring one for ten days so we can drive around the villages to get an idea where we would feel more comfortable and get shopping.

I have this map, not nearly as useful as an OS 1:25,000 walking map but at least it's on paper.

Also, don't expect anywhere near as many footpaths as in the UK!

Next time you get into Bp it might be worth visiting the Army's map shop on Fillér U (Buda, District 2). I believe they have a very comprehensive range available.

I have the one for the Zemplen area north of Miskolc which is where I live . You can buy them at MOL petrol stations.

Fen Tiger really needs one for south of Miskolc and the Lillifured area.

That's the kind of map I need. I've got a dry map case so just need the map!

Might be worth mentioning .... but take care where you are walking ... it's shooting season and it would be wise to look out for notices pinned to trees etc or check with the locals where and when it's safe to walk !!

As well as being hunting season (hunting usually happens at dawn and dusk so usually OK at other times) the stag are rutting now and they can be a bit anti social in their behaviour so avoid them and the wild boar can also be vicious and are not to be messed with (but they usually avoid contact with people)

I search wikiloc and download the routes into my Garmin navigator. It works well in Italy where the maps are very poor and expensive.
Those hungarian maps look pretty good.
