Default Velencei tó...is it interesting?

Just a quick question..
We want to go away for one night next week before we collect my son from the airport and someone suggested Velencei Tó. I've looked at some photos on Google and it looks a bit bland
Which is the most interesting area? Gárdony, Velence? I may have chance of a free night in Agárd but is there anything there other than the thermal spa?
I've spent several hours looking at photos and checking out guesthouses this afternoon and I'm fed up now so I thought I'd ask here.
Thanks,
Paul

It would be a good lake for swimming in the summer but the water is probably a bit cold for that just now.

And most establishments (bars, restaurants, ...) are probably closed right now ...

A bit OT:
That was why I decided to buy near Hévíz - when I came from Budapest (my sister and her English husband lived there for a few years) to the Balaton in October, everything was locked down!
We even had problems find a good hotel with an open restaurant, were lucky in Balatonfüred.

So when we came to Hévíz the next day I was really surprised - there was life in the streets!

As it happens, we've just been offered a free overnight in a 4* spa hotel in Szentendre with breakfast and evening meal so we'll be taking that and visit Velencei Tó another time.
I've been to Szentendre out of season before so know what to expect.

Paul, congratulations!

Szentendre is really nice (at least it was a few years ago ...), it really has a kind of Baroque and Mediterranean atmosphere. I wouldn't go there in summer however ...

Thanks for the info.
We had a great time in Szentendre and the hotel was superb. It was just full of tourists (of which we were too) though but most of them disappeared in the afternoon. Next time we'll take a boat trip on the Duna.
